Update 0.02
Alright, I have another update for the game. Little over a month this time, but progress is progress. This update is mostly just bug fixes and quality of life changes, nothing major. Without further ado;
Bug Fixes:
-Elma's sidequest did not properly resolve after gaining 12 Bat Fangs. The reason it did not work properly was because of how the variable worked; whether you could properly turn in the quest was determined based on a variable called "bat fangs", not actually the number of that item in your inventory. The variable was SUPPOSED to update to equal the number of Bat Fangs each time you would talk to her; however, this update was actually set to a DIFFERENT item, meaning the number of Bat Fangs wasn't even actually a factor. This has been corrected and should work properly now.
-Music- the Dripping background sound, as well as the battle music that played for the first boss never went away after his defeat. This should be fixed now. Both of these simply required code lines to adjust them after the battle.
-Celebration Scene- after the celebration scene, some characters were left in the bar when they should not have been. This simply required an extra event page for these characters that would trigger after the scene is done, removing them from the bar.
-Text- Cleaned up a couple instances of bad or improperly inputted text.
Softlocks- Fixed a couple of softlocks. For a still unknown reason, there was something preventing movement from the grass tile to the stair tile in the first boss room, which could potentially softlock the player depending on the choice made as well. That has been fixed.
You could also leave the house without Elwood after the first boss, which is now prevented, stopping future softlocks and errors.
There was also a report of a softlock if the tome was never grabbed from Darby, thus causing Ellissa to never be able to join the party. Testing it myself seems to show this is not the case however, as after Elwood comes into the party proper you can recruit her without the tome. As far as I can tell nothing prevents this, at least not before Ellissa is required in order to progress the game. I will keep an eye on this though.
Quality of Life changes:
-Weapon and Armour gift- after a certain point you get a free choice of a weapon or armour, but this event was somewhat messy. It has been cleaned up a little, now you can no longer quit it meaning no chance of just getting nothing, as well as there being an explanation of each weapon and the ability to go back after selecting it, making the choice more informed. Originally I also tried to make it a unique shop option, but I do not know how to limit the amount of items a person could take; thus leading to players possibly being able to take 99 of each weapon and armour, which could be a bit unbalanced.
-Item Shop prices- the prices of some of the items in the item shop have been toned down in order to minimize grinding. The amount of gold enemies drop has also been slightly increased as well.
-Pacing- After entering the stone cave, you no longer need to go back to the town at all. This prevents needless backtracking and should improve the pacing a little bit.
-Elwood's Oathsword would become an item in your inventory after the first boss fight, allowing other characters to use it. This has been corrected, and Elwoods improved oathsword has been given a distinct name as well to better showcase the change.
That should be all for now, hopefully I can continue to make decent pace with some updates in the future.
